The Stanford Cardinal may devote the season’s week in the Pac-12 rivals, the USC Trojans’ house. The Cardinal notched a 17-7 victory over Northwestern in their season but they did not escape unscathed as Stanford quarterback K.J. Costello chose a forearm to the chin shortly before the half inducing him to leave the match, whilst blindside handle Walker”Not So” Little lasted a dislocated knee and is out for the near future. Left guard Dylan Powell is not predicted to go this week after he had been hurt in Week 1. This leaves a offensive lineup, potentially without their starting QB, that can be a huge setback to a Cardinal group.
USC won their season opener at the score of 31-23 Fresno State but that was not quite enough to pay the 13 1/2 point impost who endorsed the Trojans. As USC quarterback JT Daniels was missing for the season after suffering a torn ACL into his 27, it might have been a victory. This will require an alteration in signal-callers with freshman Kedon Slovis slated to take the reins after heading 6-of-8 for 57 yards death a 31, after taking over for Daniels.
The last time the teams met the Cardinal captured a victory in September of 2018. But, prior to this, USC had won both contests the former time and now have the luxury of home-field benefit between two groups that are rather equal in ability. However, the wildcards will be the quarterbacks with lots of rolling the dice on Stanford.
But I’m siding with the Trojans predicated on the fact that they are better equipped to place things on the board because of an offensive line that’s undamaged, unlike Stanford’s where two starting linemen on the side of the ball will likely be sidelined. We are also getting worth here as the Trojans -3 were opened with by the college football odds to where they sit as a one-point home favorite.
I am also not anticipating any aerial heroics from either side with both coaches appearing to grind out this one with their respective attacks. Reports on the USC freshman quarterback suggest that the kid can handle the strain and the Trojans will continue to pound the ball and will be solid in aid of the injured rookie JT Daniels. Back up the Trojans and cash a ticket on Saturday!
